WLRA 88.1 FM App Privacy Policy

Effective October 19, 2026

The WLRA 88.1 FM app ("the app") is the listening app for WLRA, the radio station of Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and your choices. We collect as little as possible and never sell your information or use it for advertising.

What we collect

InformationWhy
A random app ID. When the app first opens it creates an anonymous ID. It isn't tied to your name, email, Apple ID or phone number. To keep song requests and listener counts working and to prevent abuse.
Listening status. Whether the app is open and whether you're listening, plus the app version, iOS version, and whether it's an iPhone or iPad. Updated about every five minutes while in use. So station staff can see how many people are listening and which app versions are in use.
Song requests. The song, artist, and any name or message you choose to include. To pass your request to the WLRA studio. Requests are seen only by WLRA staff.
Push notification token. Only if you turn on station announcements. To send station announcements. You can turn these off any time in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or browsing history, and the app contains no advertising or third-party analytics. Podcast listening progress is saved only on your phone and is never sent to us.

Services we use

The app's data is stored with Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Messaging), which processes it on our behalf (Firebase privacy information). To show album art for the song playing, the app looks up the song's title and artist with Apple's iTunes Search service; no personal information is sent. The LUTV tab shows Lewis University Television videos using YouTube API Services and YouTube's embedded player; by watching, you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's use of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. The app doesn't access your YouTube or Google account. Links you tap, such as Instagram, Apple Music, or articles, open those services, which have their own privacy policies.

How long we keep it

Listening status is overwritten each time it updates. Song requests are kept until station staff delete them. You can ask us to delete anything associated with your app ID (see below).

Children

The app is a general-audience radio app and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
